State Test Plans D&SDT believes that state certification testing must reflect
state mandated training requirements, the state's curriculum, and current practice.
D&SDT also recognizes each state's responsibility to implement Federal regulations.
Thus at the heart of testing for each client is a state test review panel reporting directly to
that client's regulatory agency. That panel must regularly review items for
inclusion in their state customized, state specific test.
Current and Sound Content D&SDT believes that the testing instrument must dynamically reflect
current practice and changes in practice. To that extent, D&SDT will design and implement a job analysis
and regularly facilitate and host item writing workshops, using subject matter experts from throughout
the country. Newly created items will be put through
rigorous psychometric tests for validity and reliability before being presented to test review panels
for inclusion in exams reflecting a state's individual test plan.
Adaptable Delivery D&SDT believes in providing varied testing options
that maximize testing opportunities and the potential for success.
D&SDT supports regional and/or in-facility (flexible) testing. Testing at the same location
where training took place (flexible testing) has been shown to improve pass rates, most
likely due to the candidate's familiarity with facilities and equipment and reduced test anxiety.
Testing Efficiency D&SDT believes it must do everything possible to reduce the
time lapsed between registration, testing, and certification. Program managers correct
tests the same day they are received back from test sites, test scores and test feedback
can be immediately released to candidates, and successful candidates are forwarded to
registries.
Feedback and Review D&SDT believes a certification evaluation program must regularly
and continually adapt to the needs of the entire community being served.
D&SDT provides meaningful data to all concerned that can be used to improve training and
testing and ultimately services rendered. D&SDT provides the means and ample opportunity
for all parties to communicate and share their needs.
Support D&SDT believes the greatest number of good decisions come when
people are free to exercise judgment in their own sphere of authority, and that we must
maximize the decisions we can make at the point of customer contact. To that end our
program managers and support personnel are dedicated to providing live and direct support
for all aspects of the testing process.
Test candidates will be treated with dignity and respect! D&SDT believes that
candidates should be given every opportunity to perform their very best on their certification exam(s).
We will make every effort to reduce test anxiety, thus maximizing the chance of success.
