Innovative testing and technology solutions since 1985.
D&S Diversified Technologies LLP --- Headmaster LLP, partners with state agencies on customized testing, certification, and registry solutions.
Headmaster began on a handshake in 1985, when general partners Paul Dorrance and Ben Schmitt launched school administration software. Distance learning work in Montana soon led to nurse aide training and evaluation — and, in 1991, to our first certified nurse aide testing contract. Today we support competency testing, certification, and healthcare professional registries nationwide.

Our certification and licensure work is guided by a few core beliefs — the same principles that shaped our state testing programs from the beginning.
Certification testing should reflect each state’s mandated training, curriculum, and current practice, with a test advisory panel reporting to the regulatory agency.
Exams must keep pace with practice. We run job analyses and item-writing workshops with subject matter experts, then validate items before state panels adopt them.
Candidates deserve flexible options. Regional and in-facility testing — especially where training happened — can reduce anxiety and improve success.
We work to shorten the path from registration to testing to certification, with timely scoring, feedback, and registry updates.
Programs should continually adapt. We share meaningful data so training programs, agencies, and candidates can improve.
Good decisions happen close to the customer. Our program managers and support staff provide live, direct help across the testing process.
Secure technology should simplify every step — from application through testing and registries — with tools like WebETest and TestMaster Universe.
Candidates should be treated with dignity and given every opportunity to do their best on exam day.
We’re based in Helena, Montana, and Findlay, Ohio — supporting state agencies, training programs, and candidates across the country.
